Obituaries

Merrlyn Gayle Hunold, age 85, formerly of Clarks Summit and an Old Forge native, passed away peacefully Sunday morning at Allied Skilled Nursing Center in Scranton following an illness.

Born in Old Forge on November 10, 1938, Merrlyn was the daughter of the late Albert R. and Hazel Scherer Hunold.  Merrlyn was a longtime member of the ARC and a resident of a group home in Clarsk Summit.  Despite what she may have faced in life, Merrlyn persevered throughout it all. She is certainly now at peace and will be missed.

She is survived by nephews, Sean Connelly, and wife, LuAnn, and Shannon Connelly, and wife, Nicole; a niece, Kim Mancini, and husband, Philip; great nieces, Leah, and husband, Tom, and Amber; great nephews, Branden and Devin; sister-in-law, Karen Hunold; aunts, Janet Harrison and Lydia Boruta;  and an extended family from The Arc of Northeastern Pennsylvania.

The last of the three Hunold siblings, she was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Beryl Connelly, and husband, John, and her brother, Glenn Hunold, and a niece, Theresa Connelly.

Blessing services by Rev. Dr. Michael Shambora are scheduled for Friday at 11:00 AM Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Burial will follow at the Marcy Cemetery, Duryea.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday from 10:00 AM until services.
