Joseph C. Davis, age 78 and a longtime Taylor resident, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning at Allied Hospice in Scranton following an illness. On October 31, 2023, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Nancy (Hair) Davis.
Born in Scranton on November 7, 1945, Joseph was the son of the late Alfred and Helen (Cusick) Davis. A graduate of West Scranton High School, he proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He earned his Associates Degree from Lackawanna College before earning his Bachelors Degree from Wilkes University. After decades of hard work and dedication, he retired as an engineer from Lockheed Martin.
Beyond his strong work ethic, Joe was an avid outdoorsman who spent much of his retirement both hunting and fishing. He enjoyed being a classic car collector and was a familiar face at local car shows while driving his white MG convertible. With Nancy by his side, he was able to travel the world and create countless memories along the way.
Leaving behind his legacy and son, Steve, of whom he was so proud, Joe passed away at peace while certainly ready to reunite with Nancy.
Joseph is survived by his adored son, Steve Davis and wife Lauren of Newton Twp; his grandson, Benjamin Davis; his brother, Alfred Davis and wife Sally of Macungie; two nieces and a nephew.
Steve wishes to acknowledge and thank the entire staffs of both Geisinger C.M.C. and Allied Hospice for the tremendous care collectively given to Joe throughout his stay.
Private arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with private burial at Cathedral Cemetery in West Scranton.
Memorial contributions may be made in Joe’s name to the Scranton VET Center c/o 1002 Pittston Ave, Scranton, PA 18505.
