Pearl “Pat” (Preambo) DeNinno, Keyser Valley section of West Scranton, passed away January 24th at home. She was preceded in death on March 19, 2021, by her husband, Al DeNinno.
Daughter of the late Pearl and Latzie (Kozlowski) Preambo, Pearl was born in Dickson City on December 6, 1935 and a graduate of the former Dickson City High School. Named after her mother, she became one of ten children, or, as she’d say, “one of the bunch.” A homemaker, she was an attentive caregiver to her five sons. One could describe her as an angel as raising five boys was no small feat. This only highlighted her caring and selfless character. Her sense of humor also remained with her until the end.
Pearl dearly loved her family and friends. She enjoyed family gatherings and going “to town” with her dear friends. A loving grandmother affectionately known as “Gramie”, she certainly cherished her visits with her seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The latter always looked forward to their Friday gatherings at Gramie’s house. Pearl truly held a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, and the support and love she blessed them with will remain forever. Family unity meant so much to her, and her faith in it was truly a defining quality of her life.
Her loving and open personality extended well beyond her immediate circle. Caring, compassionate and accepting, she made everyone feel welcome. She loved taking photos and spent countless hours recording home videos of her loved ones and friends. All of those who knew her will miss her tremendously. Her attentive listening and thoughtful remarks, her “parties on the patio”, her wisdom and unforgettable advice, and simply Pearl being herself, will never be forgotten.
Pearl is survived by her broken-hearted family of whom she was so proud, including her loving sons, Albert DeNinno, Jr. and wife Anne Marie, Mark DeNinno and wife Jessica, Nick DeNinno and wife Caroline, Anthony DeNinno and Phil DeNinno; Gramie’s seven adored grandchildren, Matthew, Alexandria, Jacob, Marc, Corinne, Megan and Anthony; and three great grandchildren, Emily, Luke and Melanie Pearl; her sister, Joan DeLucca and husband Thomas; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
One of ten Preambo siblings, she was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
Her family would like to acknowledge and thank Drs. Amber and John Sobuto along with Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the collective care given to Pearl throughout her illness.
Private blessing services will be from the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., West Scranton, with entombment at Cathedral Cemetery. Please visit the funeral home’s website to leave a condolence.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Pearl’s name to either Autism Speaks c/o P.O. Box 37148. Boone, IA 50037-0148 or to Special Olympics – Pennsylvania c/o 2570 Blvd. of the Generals, Suite 124, Norristown, PA, 19403.
A long life well-lived, Pearl, “Pat”, Mom, “Gramie” will continue to be a shining light and long live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
