Joseph “Joe” Craig Jr., 81, and a longtime Moosic resident, passed away Sunday evening at home after an illness. He is survived by his best friend and beloved wife 61 years, Andrea (Radwanski) Craig. The couple were married on Sept. 8, 1962.
Born in Taylor on Dec. 17, 1942, Joe was the son of the late Joseph Sr. and Mary (Preston) Craig. A graduate of the former Moosic High School, he then studied accounting at Luzerne County Community College.
Joe possessed a tireless work ethic, and for over 40 years, prior to his retirement at the age of 77, he worked for Martz Trailways in Wilkes-Barre where he held the title of safety director. His love for work began in his youth helping out at his family’s business, Craig’s Store, of Moosic.
If he wasn’t working, Joe was active in local politics. He was a former member of the Moosic Borough Council where he also served as past council president.
Above all else, Joe loved his family who meant the absolute world to him.
Along with Andrea, he is survived by his loving children, Kim Alfano and husband, Jim, of Phoenixville; Patricia Scarnato, of Moosic; and Joseph Craig III and wife, Michelle, of Moosic; four grandchildren, Anthony Scarnato and wife, Gabriella, of Old Forge; Michael Scarnato II and wife, Kara, of Westminster, Md.; James Alfano, of Taiwan; and Nicholas Alfano, of Phoenixville; and three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Lucas and Matteo Scarnato.
Joe was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Michael Scarnato; and his sister, Patricia “Patti” Noone.
Blessing services are scheduled for Friday at 11 a.m. at the the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge, with burial to follow in Marcy Cemetery, Duryea.
