Carlene Gustin, beloved daughter, mother, and friend to all, passed away Friday, December 22, 2023 at the age of 60 years old.
A lifelong Scranton resident, Carlene was born on February 5, 1963. Daughter of the late George M. Gustin and Sylvia (Lucke) Gustin of Scranton. Carlene was a graduate of the former Scranton Central High School before earning her license as a board certified beautician and barber.
She is survived by her children, John Joseph Gustin, George Gustin, and daughter Georgina Gustin ; her younger sister, Joan Marie Intoccia, and aunt Joan Gustin Wallace. Being a free spirit, Carlene spent her early years learning to ride motorcycles, play guitar, and was the apple of her father’s eye.
Throughout her life, both her mother Sylvia and Aunt Joan were her biggest supporters. Carlene was a lover of animals and spent most of her recent years feeding animals in her backyard. Carlene lived most of her later life serving others. She worked and volunteered her time for the Salvation Army and most recently worked with the local food and clothing pantry in Scranton. She was an amazing cook and her family never left empty handed. She longed for summer days swimming and spending time with family. Her contagious personality could light up any room.
Carlene loved her family and cherished her friendships.
She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
Carlene was a young 60, but an old soul who made every day count.
A blessing service by Rev. Antoun Youssef, Pastor of Saint Ann Maronite Church, to be announced. Private burial, Sacred Heart Cemetery in West Scranton.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St, Francis of Assisi Kitchen. Arrangements are under the care of the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 N. Main Ave., Scranton.
