Margaret (Sluk) Husosky passed away Friday morning at Allied Skilled Nursing Center in Scranton following an illness. She was 92 years old.
On January 11, 2021, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Stephen F. Husosky.
A Taylor native, Margaret was born on February 12, 1931 and was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Elechko) Sluk. A graduate of the former Taylor High School, her first bookkeeping job was for Valverde and Franco Architects, followed by bookkeeping for Fowler Floor and Wall, before working even through to her retirement at Schiff’s Food Service.
In her younger days she loved dancing, bowling, the beach and walleye fishing…with a few family fishing camping trips thrown in for good measure. She also loved Mount Airy Lodge which was where she was married to Stephen in 1962, and then frequented with him quite regularly when it reopened as a casino.
Margaret had a wonderful life and she was certainly proud of the legacy she and Stephen leave behind. At peace and reunited with Stephen, Margaret will forever be missed by family and friends.
A devoted Roman Catholic, she was a longtime member of the Divine Mercy Parish.
She is survived by her loving family including her son, John Husosky, and wife Lisa, Grant, FL; her daughter, Maggie Koehler, and husband, Pete Danchak, Clarks Summit; her three grandchildren, Tawny Husosky, FL, Paris Koehler, and Trey Koehler, Clarks Summit; and many nieces and nephews.
The last of five Sluk siblings, she is preceded in death by brothers, John and Peter Skuk and sisters, Mary Adamiak and Ann Rusnak.
Margaret’s family would like to offer their special thanks and gratitude to Diane at Serenity Care – Mid Valley, and all the wonderful care givers and staff at both Allied Services Skilled Nursing Center and Hospice… with special thanks to Jonathon, Amy, Crystal, Megan, Armando, Patti and all those who played a part in her final days and hours. The care and compassion she received was second to none.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday, January 5th, at 10:30 AM at Divine Mercy Parish, 312 Davis Street, Scranton, to be celebrated by Rev. Paul McDonnell, Pastor. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Old Forge.
Family and friends may pay their respects at the church from 9:30 AM until Mass. Please go directly to the church if you’re attending the funeral.
