Phillip (Phil) Higgins, II, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon. He was 61 years young.

Born on August 18, 1962 and son of the late Phillip and Virginia (Kimbril) Higgins, Phil was a graduate of Glen Burnie High School before proudly serving his country in the U.S. Navy during the Invasion of Grenada.

A manufacturing engineer throughout his career, Phil worked for some of the world’s largest semiconductor and chip manufacturers from Applied Materials, Inc. to GlobalFoundaries, where he had worked until his illness.

Phil’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of his loved ones. Possessing a larger-than-life personality, he was engaging, social and certainly fun loving. He loved his pups, especially his best friend Buster. He enjoyed cooking and was a major history buff, especially all things military history. Undoubtedly above all else, he adored his family and a good beer!

He is survived by his loving family, including his daughter, Lauren Higgins of Scranton and his son, Jacob Higgins of Summerville, SC; his granddaughter, Mila; his former wife, Dolores Wenk; his sisters, Katherine and Deborah Higgins; and nieces and nephews.

Private arrangements are under the care of the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton.
