Stanley J. Ogonowski, Jr., 71, of West Scranton died Monday at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton after an illness. His wife of 50 years is the former Beverly Koziol.
Born November 19, 1951 in Scranton, son of the late Stanley and Elsa Bleak Ogonowski, Stanley was a 1969 graduate of Scranton Technical High School. Employed by Angelica Linen Systems for Hospitals, through his hard work, Stanley attained the title of Shift Supervisor until his battle with leukemia began, causing his early retirement. Stanley was a member of St. Paul of the Cross Parish, South Scranton.
A devoted husband and loving father, Stanley was a very selfless man whose true joy in life was seeing others happy. Always willing to help anyone who needed a hand, Stanley was truly loved by all who knew him. He enjoyed going to the gym and walking, and took a liking to anything his family found to be enjoyable. Taken too soon, Stanley will alwasy be remembered for his kind and generous heart.
Also surviving are his children, Mark Ogonowski, New London, CT, and Lori Ann Ogonowski, Carbondale; a brother, Paul Ogonowski, Scranton, and a sister, Janet Ogonowski, Throop; 2 grandchildren, Amber and Quinn; several nieces and nephews.
A brother, Thomas Ogonowski, preceded him in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 AM in Nativity of Our Lord Church, 633 Orchard Street, Scranton. Interment to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Davis Street, Scranton.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday from 10 AM until the time of Mass in the church.
