Earl Junior Walters, a longtime Old Forge resident, passed away Thursday evening on his 83rd birthday at the V.A. Medical Center in Wilkes Barre, after his long battle with Parkinson disease. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 58 years, Jeanne (Beviglia) Walters.
Born in Catasauqua and raised in Bangor, Earl was the son of the late Victor and Rose (Hahn) Walters. After attending Bangor High School, he proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps prior to his honorable discharge. Semper Fi.
Prior to his retirement, he worked for the Chamberlain Manufacturing Company. A proud U.S. Veteran, Earl never met a German Shepherd, a casino or an ice cream flavor he didn’t like. Above all else, he was a loyal family man who was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren.
Along with Jeanne, Earl is survived by his loving family including his four children, James Kunze and wife Suzanne of North Wales, Cheryl Cali and husband Jeff of Old Forge, Denise Strohl and husband Rick of Mechanicsburg and Tracy Drummond and husband Richard of Hughestown; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren with one on the way.
The last of the eight Walters’ siblings, Earl was preceded in death by six sisters and one brother.
The family would like to acknowledge his longtime caregiver, Denise “Cheddar” Bristol, his Angels at the VA Hospice, Kim, Matt, Donna and Dr. Nardell, and his therapists who have been more family than medical professionals, TJ Griffiths and Rae Mattioli.
Private blessing services by Rev. Richard Fox will be from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge, with military honors by the AMVETS Honor Guard. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
