Edward W. Cox, 66, a longtime resident of Scranton, died Wednesday morning at home surrounded by his loving family. His wife of 15 years is the former Mary Leyshon.
Born January 17, 1957 in Taylor he was the son of the late Edward Cox, Sr., and the late Patricia Cohowitz Evancavich. Educated in Scranton schools, Ed was employed by Gillette Construction, Dickson City, prior to his retirement. He attended Moosic Alliance Community Church.
With his construction background, Ed could fix anything. If it was broke, Ed was the guy for the job. Ed’s passion was fishing, hunting, and camping with his family. An avid NY Jets fan, he enjoyed a good western movie. Taken too soon, Ed will be fondly remembered by his family and all who knew and loved him.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Edward Cox, III, and wife, Chenoa, Scranton, Jolene Cox, and husband, John Wayman, Jermyn, Stacy Cox, and husband, James Sacchetti, Scranton, and Ann Marie Cox, and husband, Donald Lindgren, Hanover Twp; 8 grandchildren; siblings, Thomas Cox, and companion, Jenny Marcho, Joseph Evancavich, and wife, Jessica, Sandra Krulikowski, and Patti Jean Faler, and Husband, Mark; a brother-in-law, Robert Monacelli; and several nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Monacelli, brother-in-law, Edmund Krulikowski; first wife, Catherine Dudeck Cox;, and his stepmom, Margaret “Peggy” Cox.
A Celebration of Edward’s Life will be held on Tuesday at 6 PM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 N. Main Street, Old Forge, with Rev. Norm Demming, officiating.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday from 4 PM until the time of the service in the funeral home.
