Dolores (Mayes) Wywiorka, age 90 and a longtime Old Forge resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore, after an illness.
Born in Taylor on Independence Day, 1933, Dolores was the loving daughter and caregiver of the late Charles “Mayes” and Tessie (Slagoski) Wywiorka. She attended the Hoyt School of Nursing, preparing to be a caregiver which she would ultimately do so selflessly for her entire life.
Dolores’ world revolved around her family. She had devoted her life to her parents’ care until their passing and she had a close-knit relationship with her brother. Her niece and nephew were considered the children she never had, and spending as much time with them as possible was so important to her. Dolores left a lasting impression on the lives of her loved ones and her legacy of kindness will certainly long live on through them. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her loving sister-in-law, Dorothy Wywiorka of Scott Twp.; her niece, Carla Westover and husband Dana of Annville and Charles W. Quinnan and wife Jennifer of Camp Hill; and her great nieces, Briana Westover and Abigail Quinnan.
Her brother, Charles D. “Mayes” Wywiorka, also preceded her in death.
Her family would like to acknowledge and thank the entire staff of Linwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their outstanding care throughout Dolores’ stay.
Private services will be held with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Old Forge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dolores’ name to the St. Francis of Assisi Kitch c/o 500 Penn Ave, Scranton, PA 18503.
Arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge PA 18518.
