Rocco N. Scaramastro, 67, of Moosic passed away July 15th at Roanoke Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. His wife of 43 years is the former Frances Murach.

Born December 8, 1955, son of the late Nicholas and Elizabeth “Betty” Ray Scaramastro, Rocco was a 1973 graduate of Riverside Jr-Sr High School. Employed by Topps, Rocco was a member of Queen of the Apostles Parish and The Knights of Columbus.

Rocco was beloved by all who knew him. He was always the first to volunteer when something needed to be fixed, and there wasn’t much of anything he couldn’t fix. When his daughters were young, he would step in as a volunteer coach, even becoming president of the Moosic Missy League (now RedWings). In his free time, he enjoyed music and playing guitar. In his younger days, he was a member of the Wells Fargo Band, and more recently, he recorded his own album “Rocco’s Spaghetti Westerns”. He also enjoyed cooking and grilling Sunday dinners for his family and woodworking.

Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters Robin Vergari, and husband Michael, of Sugarloaf and Theresa Horn, and husband, Chris of New Tripoli; grandchildren, and the loves of his life, Neil Horn, Reyna Vergari, and Noel Horn; sisters, Betty Letterman, and husband, Brad, Mary Ann Gilchrist, Patricia Kwiatkowski, Jane Maxwell, and husband, Bert, Sue Brunner, and husband, Jon; brother, Mark Scaramastro, and wife, Geri; and many nieces and nephews.

Brothers Joseph Scaramastro, Nicholas Scaramastro, and Vincent Scaramastro, sister Barbara Scaramastro; brothers-in-law, Donald Gilchrist and David Kwiatkowski, and sisters-in-law, Joan Scaramastro, Frances Scaramastro, Alma Scaramastro, and Janice Schuh preceded him in death.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, especially Dr. Chalak Berzingi and Dr. Mark Joseph.

A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday at 11 AM in Queen of the Apostles Parish, 715 Hawthorne Street, Avoca, to be celebrated by Rev. Phillip J. Sladicka, pastor. Interment, St. Mary’s Cemetery, Avoca.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Saturday from 10 AM until the time of the mass in the church.
