Marie (Meranti) Conforti, age 87 and a lifelong resident Old Forge, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 6th, 2023. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 66 years, Charles Conforti Sr., on October 16, 2021.
Born in Old Forge , daughter of the late Joseph and Jennie Pann Meranti, Marie was a 1953 graduate of Old Forge High School. She worked in local banking prior to her retirement.
An amazing baker and cook, Marie had the innate ability to connect with others through the food she prepared. From sharing her recipes to making sure you were fed when in her presence, her kindness and selflessness were obvious.
Of Roman Catholic faith, Marie was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Church at the Prince of Peace parish Old Forge.
She is survived by her loving family, including her children, Jeannine Pugliano and husband Louis of State College and Charles Conforti, Jr. and wife Shawn of Forty Fort; her five grandchildren, Vito Pugliano and wife Erin, Carlo Pugliano and wife Monica, Brandon Conforti and wife Mellisa, Kayla Uylingco and husband Nick and Karlee Gavrish and husband Shane; her nine great grandchildren, Nico, Luca, Olivia, Dominic and Vincent Pugliano, Greyson Conforti, Charli Uylingco, Kaiden and Myla Gavrich; her brother, Joseph Meranti of Taylor; her brother in law and sister in law, Anthony and Maryann Conforti of Phoenixville, with whom Marie shared a special relationship; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her siblings John Meranti, Catherine Doria, Ralph Meranti and Victoria Febo.
Marie’s family wishes to acknowledge and thank Drs. Jeffrey D’Andrea, Dr. Pramthesh Desai, Dr. Loren Mangino and John Rosencrans RNP for the collective care given to Marie and to everyone at Tiffany Court in Kingston for their continued kindness and compassion.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Thursday, July 13th, at 11:00 AM at Corpus Christi Parish, 605 Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston, to be celebrated Msgr. John Sempa. Private burial will follow at Old Forge Cemetery.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday at the church from 10:00 AM until the Mass. Those wishing to attend the funeral are asked to go directly to the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marie’s name to the donor’s favorite charity.
