Shirley (York) Osborne Mroz passed away Thursday evening with her daughter by her side. Born March 12, 1935 in Sayre, PA, she was the daughter of the late Warren Sr. and Bessie (Jumper) York.
She attended Scranton Tech High School and was employed for over 25 years as a cashier at the Tobyhanna Army Depot’s post restaurant. She then went on to work at Riccardo’s Market and Gerrity’s on Meadow Ave in Scranton. She loved all of her regular customers and made many lifelong friends throughout her career.
Shirley was a dedicated member of the Moosic Alliance Church. She will be forever missed by her loving family and friends. Shirley was known for her friendly personality and made friends wherever she went. She enjoyed embroidering and crocheting, and loved making make afghan blankets, especially if someone was expecting a baby. She enjoyed church, going out to eat, and meeting with her friends.
Shirley’s family would like to thank the staff of Mountainview Care Center and Angelic Pathways Hospice for their compassionate care.
She is survived by her children, William “Bill” Osborne, Springbrook Twp; Sheryl (Osborne) Krukowski, Dunmore; and Jeff Osborne (fiancé, Dawn Haduch), Springbrook Twp; her grandchildren, Natalie Fritz, Amee Michaels, Frank Haddix, Robert Osborne, CJ Krukowski, Nicole Osborne, Brittany Krukowski, and Jeff Osborne Jr.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Robert “Oz” Osborne; her husband, Harold “Ozzie” Osborne; her siblings, Charles, Dale, Donald, Robert, Emma, and Warren “Yorkie” York and Anna Leschinsky; and her nephew John “Paduke” Leschinsky.
Her family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff of Mountain View Care Center for their care and compassion during Shirl’s stay.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Moosic Alliance Community Church, 408 Rocky Glen Road, Moosic, to be conducted by Rev. Eric Ferguson, Pastor. Burial will follow at the Marcy Cemetery in Duryea. Those wishing to attend the funeral are asked to go directly to church.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday 5-8:00 PM at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge.
