Daniel, “Danny” Ross, 76, of South Abington Township, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family after an exceptionally courageous battle with a rare form of leukemia. He and his wife Bernie Fawzon Ross, just celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary on June 26.
Danny was a graduate of Saint Patrick’s High School, class of 1964. He furthered his education at the University of Scranton before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. Fighting bravely for his country during the war in Vietnam, he was a right helicopter gunner and earned the nickname “righty”, a name that remained with him throughout his life.
Danny began his pursuit in sales at the Scranton Times and spent most of his 33 years there as account executive. Following his retirement, he accepted the position as a car sales consultant with his longtime friend and mentor, the late Marty Gibbons. He spent many years working for Gibbons and Toyota Scion of Scranton. His honest, winning personality and infectious smile served to ensure him a long and successful fulfilling career.
Danny treasured his home and dressed it with his many talents of carpentry and building skills to create the setting for a social haven-one that he and his wife shared in entertaining their many friends and family members.
His beloved garden was his latest hobby and most recent pride and joy. As a lover of the arts, he enjoyed his years as committee members for both Broadway Theatre of Scranton and Ballet Theater of Scranton. To those who knew him well, he was looked upon as a true renaissance man.
As a member of the board of directors of the Tripp House, he enjoyed being a part of preserving Scranton’s s oldest house. Danny was an avid reader and a gifted writer. He also loved to golf and was a member of the Elmhurst Country Club. He enjoyed golfing with his friends, especially his best buddy, Wally Knuth. Above all else, he cherished his wife and family. He considered his grandchildren a special, precious gift. Throughout his life, he had a special place in his heart for his dogs. To those who have the privilege of knowing him, he will be greatly missed.
Along with his beloved wife, he is survived by his three daughters: Lisa Ross Edwards (Ty), Dr. Jennifer Ross Williams (Harold Newell), and Marnel Moschorak Ahern (Patrick), his adoring grandchildren, Kyle, Tyler, Evan, Emeila, Addison, Samantha and Charlie Jane. His two sisters, Madelyn Pazicni (JB) and Cindy McGuire, his sister and brother-in-law, Camille and Colin Holmes and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank Dr. Henry Fung and the Fox Chase medical team, Dr. Kristin Liptock, Dr. Will Speicher, Dr. Kenneth Sebastianelli, Dr. Jeff D’Andrea and Dr. Mark Frattelli. A special thanks to Allied Home Hospice Care. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Saint Joseph’s Center, in honor of his favorite patron saint, Saint Joseph.
