William Hill, age 68, of Moosic and formerly of Ashley, passed away Saturday morning at home, after an illness.
Born on May 16, 1954, and raised in Wilkes Barre, William was the son of the late William and Elizabeth “Betty” (Lane) Hill. A graduate of Elmer J. Meyers High School in Wilkes Barre, he began a career in the restaurant business that spanned over three decades. He was the owner and operator of several local Januzzi’s Pizza franchises throughout the region.
William was a true outdoorsman. He loved his time spent “up the cabin” at Red Rock Mountain, and enjoyed everything from camping to hiking to biking while outdoors. He was a die-hard fan of the New York Yankees and he certainly loved all music by The Beatles.
To be forever missed by his family and friends, William is now at peace.
He is survived by his loving son, Zachary Hill of Pittston; his siblings, David Ratowski of Kingston, James Ratowski of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Jackie Kramer of Larksville, Laurie Ratowski of Kingston, Betty Urban of Luzerne, Beverly Obsitos of Shavertown and Barbara Lewis of Plains; his former wife, Mary Lou Gibbons of Pittston; and many nieces and nephews.
Brothers, Joseph Ratowski and Fred Lane, also preceded him in death.
A Celebration of William’s Life will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, to be conducted by Rev. Francis Landry.
Family and friends may pay their respects at the funeral home on Friday between 10:00 AM and services.
