Beverly (Antal) Petrosky, age 83 and a longtime Old Forge resident, passed away Tuesday morning at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore, after an illness. She is survived by her best friend and beloved husband, John Petrosky. The couple recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on September 28th.
Born in Duryea on September 3, 1939, Beverly was the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Repasky) Antal. A graduate of the former Duryea High School, Class of 1957, Beverly and John married shortly after John’s return from the service and began to raise their family. Of strong faith and a devoted Roman Catholic, Beverly was a longtime member of the former St. Michael’s Church in Old Forge and upon its closure she belonged to Prince of Peace Parish, also in Old Forge.
Beverly led a life devoted to both her faith and family, and being a kind, thoughtful and selfless soul who would do anything for anyone in need. She enjoyed baking, cooking and gardening in her yard. She always loved to travel, especially on trips to the Atlantic City casinos with John by her side.
Passing away peacefully, she’ll forever be missed by her family and friends.
She is also survived by her loving family, including her two children, John Petrosky of Mayfield and Pam Dieffenbach of Harding; three grandchildren, Victoria Petrosky, Parker and Riley Dieffenbach; a sister, Geraldine Judge of Scranton; and nieces and nephews.
Her family would like to acknowledge and thank the entire staffs of both Regional Hospital and Sacred Heart Hospice for the exceptional care collectively given to Beverly throughout her illness.
Funeral services will begin on Saturday at 8:45 AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with a 9:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Prince of Peace Parish, to be celebrated by Rev. August Ricciardi, Pastor. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Old Forge. Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday between 4-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
