Obituaries

Katherine Lake Hayes, a lifelong Scranton resident, went to be with her heavenly Father on January 8, 2023.

Born and raised in Scranton, daughter of the late Winfred Lake and Robert Chandler, she lived her entire life in Scranton growing up in West Side.

A God-fearing woman, she shared the Gospel with everyone she met. Katherine was known for her giving heart and always trying to help people. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are sons Ken Lake (Maryellen), Kevin Lake (Michelle) CT, Kim Lake, Chris Lake Fl, Jamie Lake (Lesite) NC, Roland Steven Lake (Lino) NY, and David Royce, daughters Kelly Dryden (Carl) and Bonnie Lake and sister Carol Balon Williams. Plus 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death are her husband Edward Hayes, son Michael Lake, brothers George Lake, Theadore Balon and Joseph Androski and a grandson Derrick Lake.

The family would like to thank Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dr Barry Minora and his staff, and Dr Kapp and his staff for treating our mother as if she were family.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, January 21st, at 1:00 PM at Our Father’s House, 1820 Church Street, Scranton, 18508, with Pastor Tom Duggan officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Katherine’s name to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 100 Williams Street Dunmore, PA 18510.
