Jane (Santarelli) Casey, age 73 and a longtime Taylor resident, passed away Friday afternoon at home. Surrounded by her beloved family, she died peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her devoted husband and best friend, Martin (Marty) Casey Sr. The couple celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on May 1.
A Jessup native, Jane was born on May 6, 1949 to the late Michael and Jane (Bowler) Santarelli. A graduate of the former Jessup High School, Class of 1967, she married Marty in 1971 and began raising her family. For many years, she worked for the Sheraton Inn in Scranton and the courtesy desk at Boscov’s Department Store in Scranton–where she always considered her co-workers her extended family.
Jane was so much to so many. She was an amazing wife, loving mother, adoring grandmother and sister. She enjoyed lounging by her pool, cooking, rooting for the New York Giants, and keeping the cleanest house in Taylor Borough. A complete jokester, she had an unforgettable humor.
Above all else came Jane’s family, especially her five grandchildren (Brooke, Molly, Michael, Kaylie and Brianna). She was loyal, fiercely protective and nurturing to all. She will forever be missed by all who knew her.
She is also survived by her children, Tara Drumsta (Michael) of Dunmore and Martin Casey Jr. (Nicole) of Dallas; her grandchildren; her siblings, William Santarelli of Eynon, Lucy Strasburger (Daniel) of Waymart and Kathy Judge of Jessup; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by siblings, Robert and Michael Santarelli.
Jane’s family would like to acknowledge and thank Dr. Kenneth Sebastianelli for the amazing care and compassion he gave to both Jane and her family. They will never forget it.
A blessing service by Rev. Ken Howey and celebration of Jane’s life is scheduled for Wednesday at 7:00 PM at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., Old Forge. Family and friends may pay their respects between 4-7:00 PM.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Leukemia Research Foundation, 191 Waukegan Rd, Ste 105. Northfield, Il 60093.
