Kathy M. Zukowski, 66, of Scranton, passed peacefully to her Heavenly Father Tuesday at Regional Hospital of Scranton surrounded by loved ones. Her devoted husband is George D. Zukowski.

Born January 8, 1956 in Scranton, eldest daughter of the late William and Gladys Walsh Farrell, Kathy was a 1974 graduate of West Scranton High School. After high school while working at RCA technologies, and married to her first husband Pat Jeffers, she became a mother to her precious daughter, Ryan. Kathy was very hardworking throughout her life. She was a trailblazer in the food brokering industry in the 1980’s and a small business owner of Keeley’s Hallmark store in Louisville, Kentucky in the 1990’s. Highly motivated and very successful in her career, she paved the way for women that would follow her lead in the industry. Beyond these career accomplishments, and more importantly, she has always been a model of altruism, humor and determination to many, but especially to her daughter. Kathy cherished deeply the very close relationship she shared with her two siblings, Colleen and Bill. She always considered them her first and forever best friends. Kathy’s family was her everything! She spent the last 25 years of her life happily married to George, laughing and caring for their animals together. Throughout her life Kathy attended mass at St. Ann’s Basilica, Scranton and has been devout in her prayers to her favorite saint, St. Theresa and The Blessed Virgin Mary.

Very generous and caring, Kathy was always concerned about everyone else’s happiness and her love language was gifts. She was a “big kid” at heart and her favorite aisle in any store was the toy aisle, where she would spend much of her time picking out surprises to delight grandchildren, nieces and nephews making them smile. Kathy was hysterically funny and enjoyed telling jokes. She loved cooking for her family, trips to the casino, and loved animals of all kinds deeply, especially her dog Mugsy. Known lovingly as “Daboo” to her grandchildren and Aunt “Fluffy” Kathy to her nieces and nephews, she will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.

Surviving are: her loving family, only daughter, Ryan Erin Jeffers Hetman, and husband, Kevin, Ashburn, Va; grandchildren, Sloane Eloise, Rhodes William, and Piper Sinclair; sister, Colleen Foulke, and husband, Llew, Clifton Park, NY; brother, William Farrell, and wife, Donna, Lake Wallenpaupack; and many adoring nieces, nephews and numerous cousins.

Along with her parents, Kathy was greeted and celebrated in heaven by Patricia “Cheech” Wilmot, and Charles and Betty Rutosky and her beloved dog “Goomby”.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday from 4-7 PM in the Kearney funeral home.

Funeral services are scheduled to begin Saturday at 9:15 AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc, 517 N Main Street, Old Forge, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Ann’s Basilica Parish, 1250 St. Ann St., Scranton. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery.
