Sharon (Palutis) Sagona, age 63, a lifelong resident of West Scranton, passed away unexpectedly on Monday afternoon at home after a recent illness.
Born in Scranton on August 7, 1959, Sharon was a graduate of West Scranton High School, Class of 1977. Sharon had worked at Penn Paper & Supply Company before working at her family’s business, Keyser Valley Deli in West Scranton. She has since been working in the medical records department of Delta Medix for over 10 years.
Sharon’s loss is immeasurable for her loved ones. Her legacy of kindness, generosity and love will long live on through her adoring family. Family always came first to her.
She is survived by her beloved husband, James P. Sagona. The couple celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary this year on September 13.
She is also survived by her parents Richard and Audrey (Sinclair) Palutis, of Scranton; son James R. Sagona and his significant other Amanda Hallock, of Taylor; her brother-in-law, Carl Zenker of Scranton; and her nephews, Carl Zenker Jr and his wife Jamie and Adam Zenker.
She was preceded in death by her sister and best friend, Karen Zenker.
Some of her best memories were made on trips to Aruba. Her loving son and nephews meant the world to her. Loved by all who knew her, she’ll forever be missed.
Funeral services are set to begin at 9:15 AM on Monday at the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton, with a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, 1403 Jackson Street in Scranton, to be celebrated by Rev. Richard Fox, Pastor. Burial will follow in the Italian-American Cemetery, Scranton. Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday between 2-5:00 PM at the funeral home.
