Marie Donovan, 89, of Old Forge and formerly of New Jersey, died Sunday in Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton.

Born May 16, 1933 in Taylor, daughter of the late Harry and Susan Sliviak Markovitch, Marie was a graduate of Taylor High School. She was employed as a bookkeeper with the Friendship House in Scranton prior to her retirement. Marie was a member of St. Ann’s Basilica Parish, Scranton, where she sang in the choir.

A loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Marie’s passion was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandson. She was a community volunteer and enjoyed singing, especially with the choir at her church. Leaving a lasting impression, she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Surviving are her loving family, daughters, Susan Varnas, and husband, William, Morristown, NJ, and Anne-Mary Fellin, and husband, John, North Plainfield, NJ; grandchildren, Kathryn Abreu and husband, Dereck, John, Victoria, and Joshua Fellin; a great grandson, Alex Abreu; a sister, Dorothy Foglietta; and several nieces and nephews.

Sisters, Olga Estok, Mary Barbiere, and Ann Prokopovitch, and brothers, George and John Markovitch preceded her in death.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, November 18, at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, 111 Claremont Road, Bernardsville, NJ. Inurnment, Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge, NJ.

Arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc, 517 N Main St., Old Forge.
