Michael John Giannetti, 29, of Old Forge, died Sunday in Scranton.

Born February 9, 1993 in Scranton, son of Lynn (Zimak) Buzzinski, and her husband, Donald, Old Forge, and Nick Giannetti, Carbondale, Michael was a 2011 graduate of Old Forge High School. He attended college for Criminal Justice in California and then returned home to pursue his love of culinary arts, working in the restaurant industry in food prep. Michael was currently living with his girlfriend, Ashley, and her 2 daughters in Scranton. On January 21, 2021, Michael’s life was completely changed for the better with the birth of his son, Maxton. His focus completely changed, and his world now revolved around his pride and joy.

Michael’s passions were fishing, hunting, and riding his quad. He was an avid Eagles fan, but all that took second place to his love for Maxton. Michael was surrounded by a huge family who loved and supported him without end. They enjoyed time with Michael in so many ways. This tragic loss will leave a magnificent hole in their hearts that will be hard to fill. But their love for him will continue on forever.

Surviving in addition to his parents and son are his loving extended family, stepbrother, Aaron Buzzinski; aunt, Laurie Clemens, and husband, Dave; uncles, Mark Zimak, and wife, Delight; Gary Zimak, and wife, Wendy; and Casey Zimak, and wife, Joanne; and cousins, Tara and Lindsey

Maternal grandparents, Adam and Gertrude Zimak, and paternal grandmother, Elvira Giannetti preceded him in death.

A Celebration of Michael’s Life will be held on Monday at 4 PM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 N Main St., Old Forge with Rev. Francis Landry, officiating.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Monday from 2 PM until the time of the service in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, South Abington Township, PA 18411.
