Frank S. Krawiec, of Pittston, passed away Monday evening at Regional Hospital of Scranton. He was 81 years young. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances (Casper) Krawiec, on October 11, 1992.
Born in Dupont on December 21, 1940, Frank was the son of the late Stanley and Helen Krawiec. A graduate of the former Dupont High School, he attended trade school before working as a machinist for Schott Optical. Possessing a tireless work ethic, he also worked at George’s Engine Shop in Duryea also while working at Schott. He had more recently graduated from Luzerne County Community College with a Degree in Electronic Technology after returning to school to earn his college degree.
Upon his so-called “retirement” from Schott, Frank spent twenty years as a full-time parking attendant at the Wilkes Barre-Scranton International Airport. He perpetually kept busy, either by growing his Lionel Train collection, building out his ’79 Mustang hot rod along with his son, building model cars and model airplanes, attending any local drag racing events or serving as the family handyman. He was also a founding member of the Polish Falcons Club in Dupont. Dearly loved, Frank will forever be missed by family and friends.
He is survived by his loving family including his son, David Krawiec and wife Ruth of Dupont; his longtime companion of 25 years, Mimi Gojkowski of Scranton; three grandchildren, Joseph and wife Tanti of Moosic, Carey Cali of Moosic and Jason Cali and wife Susi of Avoca; four great grandchildren, Tyler Cali of Avoca, Jarred and Aleah Cali of Moosic and Jacob McGuire of Moosic; a sister, Gloria Giardini of Oxford; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
His family would like to acknowledge and thank the entire staff of Regional Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit for their exceptional care.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday at 11:00 AM at Queen of the Apostles Parish, 715 Hawthorne Street in Avoca, to be celebrated by Rev. Philip Sladicka, Pastor. Private burial, Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery in Dupont.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday at the church from 10:00 AM until Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Frank’s name to the SPCA of Luzerne County c/o 524 East Main Street, Wilkes Barre, Pa. 18702.
