Cynthia Decker McGuire, 65, a longtime resident of Moosic and Old Forge, died Saturday, August 27th, at Roxborough Memorial Hospital, Philadelphia.
Born in Moosic, daughter of the late Robert and Jane Belles Decker, Cynthia was a 1974 graduate of Riverside High School. Cynthia worked in a number of different roles; Medical Assistant at Wyoming Valley Manor, operator for a medical answering service, and in the Assessors Office at the Lackawanna County Courthouse to name a few. She was of the protestant faith and associated with the Moosic Presbyterian Church.
A generous soul, Cynthia would give anyone, even a perfect stranger, the shirt off of her back. Her passion for helping others was well known, and she touched so many lives with her selfless ways. Family was her everything. Having no children of her own, she “adopted” her nieces and nephews and made them and their families her priority. It was always about family to Cynthia. She will be sorely missed by those she put first in her life and by her host of friends she has made along the way.
Surviving are her pride and joy, her nieces and nephews and their families.and her best friend throughout her life, Matthew McGuire.
The last of her sisters, she was preceded in death by Roberta “Robin” Williams, Ruth Deininger, Sharon Rutkowski, Dorothy Refice, and infant sister, Laurie Anne, and also a brother prior to birth, known lovingly as Baby Boy Decker.
A Celebration of Cynthia’s Life will be held on Saturday, September 24th, at noon in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 N. Main Street, Old Forge.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects from 10 AM until the time of the service in the funeral home.
