Michele A. Hannon, a lifelong resident of Scranton, passed away Thursday at Suburban Community Hospital in Norristown, after an illness. She was 61 years old.
Born on October 16, 1960 and raised in West Scranton, Michele was the daughter of the late Robert, Sr. and Dawn (Vivalda) Hannon. A 1979 graduate of West Scranton High School, Michele worked for the former Profera’s Pizza Bakery in Scranton, before working for Good Will for many years.
Happy, kind and loving, Michele enjoyed simple pleasures. She loved bowling, swimming and shopping. She also loved crafting, word search puzzles and taking photos. She enjoyed traveling, including her most recent trip to Oregon, and an animal lover, she adored her collection of stuffed animals. Some of her favorite pastimes were games, arts and crafts with her extended family at the Deutsch Institute. She never missed an opportunity to be there.
Above all else, Michele was happiest just being with her family. She’ll forever be missed by all who loved her.
She is survived by her two brothers, Robert Hannon, Jr. and wife Jean of Scranton and Eugene Hannon and wife April of Old Forge; a niece, Kelly Hannon; three nephews, Bobby, Aiden and Cole Hannon; an uncle, Eugene Vivalda and wife Joanna of Mt. Top; cousins and her beloved cat, “Nixie.”
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Monday at 9:15 AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Ann’s Basilica, West Scranton, to be celebrated by Rev. Siby Padinjaredath. Burial will follow at Marcy Cemetery in Duryea. Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday between 4-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
