Obituaries

Sherry L. (Belles) Hodak, of Avoca, passed away Thursday afternoon on her 63rd birthday at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton, after an illness. She was preceded in death by her best friend and husband of 33 years, Richard P. Hodak, on January 16, 2021.
A Moosic native, Sherry was born on August 18, 1959 to parents, the late Ambrose “Beezer” and Margaret Ellen (Smith) Belles. She was a graduate of Riverside High School prior to raising her family.
Selfless, humble and caring to a fault, Sherry will long be remembered for the love she showed to all of those around her. She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend, always thinking of others first. “To know her was to love her”.
She is survived by her children, Heather and fiancé, Daniel Barnhart, Pittsburgh; Richard, Michael; Shawn and spouse, Cheyenne Quales, all of Avoca; grandma to Sean, Michael, Joseph, Hunter, Nicholas, and Remington; her siblings, Cindy Oldershaw and husband Robert of Bear Creek; Robert Belles and wife, Phyllis, of Grand Island, N.Y.; and Mark Belles of Moosic; and many nieces and nephews.
A brother, Howard Belles, also preceded her in death.
