Thomas Telesz, age 75, a lifelong resident of Old Forge, passed away Thursday at home. He was preceded in death by his wife Darlene (Pencek) Telesz on February 22, 2014, to whom he was married for 44 years.

Born in Scranton on April 25, 1947, he was the son of the late Frank and Genia (Michalek) Telesz, Tom was a 1965 graduate of Old Forge High School. Upon graduation he enlisted and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. After his honorable discharge, he worked as a welder for North American Manufacturing Company.

After his retirement, Tom could often be found fishing with his brother-in-law or working in his shop, where, whether it be working with wood or metal, he was able to build pretty much anything he saw.

Of all things, “Grandpa” enjoyed and was most proud of his granddaughters, and loved nothing more than spending time with them, from holiday meals or a casual visit to spending time with them in the pool over many summers. He was of Roman Catholic faith and a longtime member of the former St. Michael’s Church in Old Forge.

He is survived by his loving children, Tom Telesz of Old Forge and Sharon Beidler and husband Andrew of Scranton; three grandchildren, Katlyn, Rachel and Ally Beidler; brothers-in-law Jack Pencek and wife Rita, Don Pencek and wife Diane; sister-in-law Barbara Edwards and husband Joe; nieces, nephews, and many cousins.

Private arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge.
