Rose M. Abromavage Murphy, of Taylor, passed away Tuesday at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Frank Murphy Jr., who passed away March 16, 2001. The couple was married for 41 years.
Born in Exeter, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Karosa Abromavage, Rose was a graduate of Exeter High School. Rose grew up and worked in Exeter as a waitress at B&M Diner until she met and married her husband. Rose was a devoted homemaker, mother, grandmother and baker who dedicated her life to her family. In addition, she was a devout Catholic, singing in the choir as a young girl. Rose had a strong faith, was a longtime parishioner of St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, now Prince of Peace Parish, Old Forge, and was a devotee of St. Ann’s Novena.
Surviving are a daughter, Coleen Murphy, Duryea; sons, Frank Murphy III and wife, Christine, Old Forge, and Todd Murphy and wife, Patricia, Taylor; granddaughters, Amie Murphy Zoltewicz and husband, Robert, and Britni Murphy, and fiancé, Jordan Rose; great-granddaughters, Malaini and Farrah Zoltewicz; step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Ed Meeker; and nieces and nephews.
Sisters, Pearl Zuba and husband, Mike, and Dolores Meeker; and brother, John Abromavage Jr., preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:15 a.m. from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Prince of Peace Parish, 123 W. Grace St., Old Forge, to be celebrated by the Rev. August Ricciardi, pastor. Interment to follow in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. in the funeral home.
