On February 6, 1988, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 38 years, Richard H. Ecke.
Born in Duryea on July 31, 1924, and daughter of the late Henry and Bertha (Jackett) McGarrity, Geraldine was a graduate of the former Taylor High School, Class of 1943. For over 26 years prior to her retirement she worked as a machine operator at Scranton Lace Co.
Of Roman Catholic faith, Geraldine was a faithful member of the former Immaculate Conception Church in Taylor, prior to its closure, and a recent member of Divine Mercy Parish.
As an active member of I.C.C., she was an original Catholic Daughter, a member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality, part of both the AARP and Catholic Choral Chorus and was a church choir soloist for many years. She also worked for the Imperial Society of Dining and Dancing for 19 years.
She’ll long be remembered for her kindness and will always be missed by her loved ones.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including her dear great niece, Elisa Loncola.
The last of six McGarrity siblings, Geraldine was also preceded in death by brothers, Edward, Thomas, Henry and infant Joseph McGarrity and a sister, Elizabeth DiMattia.
