Stella (Minnick) Krenitsky, age 94, a longtime resident of Old Forge, passed away Tuesday at Scranton Health Care Center where she had been a guest for several years. She was preceded in death on May 20, 2000, by her beloved husband of 51 years, Peter W. Krenitsky.
Born in Wilkes Barre on October 14, 1927, and daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Ann (Yanchulis) Minnick, Stella was educated in Wilkes Barre schools.
Stella then married and raised her family in Old Forge. She worked in the sales department for the Topps Chewing Gum Co. in Duryea before working for Rohr Lingerie Co. in Old Forge, prior to her retirement. She possessed an amazingly dedicated work ethic and always adored time with her co-workers.
She was the longtime president of Avoca’s Club 73 social club where she loved the club itself, socializing with its members and traveling for its countless activities. She was also a longtime member of St. Michael’s Orthodox Church in Old Forge where for years she was an active volunteer in all church activities and fundraisers.
Stella took pride in her home, keeping both her house and her yard absolutely pristine. She was a great socializer so of course she would never miss a good party.
Above all else came her family, and she was an adored mother, grandmother and great mother who will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her loving family including her son, Stephen P. Krenitsky and wife Mary Ellen of Old Forge; her granddaughter, Tanya Kukla and husband Peter; great granddaughters, Anna and Gina Kukla; her daughter-in-law, Mary Krenitsky; and nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas Krenitsky, on July 6th, 2021; a grandson, Stephen J. Krenitsky; a sister, Mary Kudalsky; and three brothers, John, Joseph and Anthony Abovich.
Her family wishes to acknowledge and thank the entire staffs of both the Scranton Health Care Center and Dr. Kenneth Sebastianelli’s office for their dedicated care and compassion throughout the years.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday at 10:00 AM at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with burial to follow in St. Michael’s Orthodox Cemetery in Old Forge.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday between 4-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Stella’s name to the donor’s favorite charity.
