Robert “Bobby” E. McGuire, age 66, of South Scranton, passed away on Friday at home.
A lifelong Scranton resident, he was born on October 17, 1955. Son of Marilyn R. (Owen) McGuire, Scranton and the late Edward J. McGuire, Robert was a graduate of Scranton Tech and was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout with Troop 16 at Hickory Street Presbyterian Church He served as a drummer with the Drum and Bugle Corp, American Legion Post 948, Scranton
Robert was a longtime railroad machine operator and was affectionately known by his colleagues as “Lapper”. In 1975 he began working for the Erie Lackawanna Railroad before retiring in 2016 from the New Jersey Transit system. A dedicated employee, he had a tireless work ethic. Most importantly, he forged never-ending friendships with his co-workers whom he always considered to be his extended family.
Bobby possessed an amazing personality, a knack for storytelling, and a memorable sense of humor. Those characteristics made him the absolute life of the party each and every time.
