Obituaries

Richard J. Hannick, 67, of Old Forge, passed away on Saturday, June 25th, following a brief illness. He was the husband of Laurie (Marcinko) Hannick.
Richard was born in Scranton on November 9, 1954 to the late Caryll (Ritchie) Zangardi and Richard Hannick. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and loved traveling to the city whenever he could. While there he enjoyed watching Yankees baseball, seeing Broadway shows, and visiting the many
restaurants, bakeries and markets in Little Italy. He was a phenomenal cook and one of his greatest joys was being in the kitchen. No holiday nor family gathering was complete without one of Richard’s world class meals.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his sons, Richard Hannick and wife Sarah, Pen Argyl, and Brandon Hannick, Old Forge; his grandsons, Brody and Hudson Hannick; his sisters, Leah Summers and husband Paul, Fla. and Sunny Ann Schwartz and husband Joseph, Moosic; his brother, William Hannick and wife Lynda, Scranton; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his second father, Sonny Zangardi; and a brother, John J. Hannick, in 2009.
A blessing service is scheduled for Friday at 6:00 PM at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday from 4:00 PM until services at the funeral home.
