Ethan Robert Loring, 17, of Kingsley, died Tuesday at home after a sudden illness.

Born June 6, 2005 in Scranton, son of Jeremy and Melissa Lutkowski Loring, Ethan was a Student at Mountain View High School and Susquehanna Career and Technology Center. A member of Trinity Congregational Church, Scranton, Ethan embodied the Golden Rule.

A loving and adventurous soul, Ethan wore his heart on his sleeve, and never missed an opportunity to say “I love you.” He had the unique ability to make friends with everyone, and his quick wit was guaranteed to make you smile. Whether attempting a new adventure or experiencing new foods, he never shied away from a new challenge. Ethan loved the outdoors, hiking, four wheeling, and swimming, and was always up for starting a campfire and sitting around with those he loved. Some of his new interests were learning to cook, learning to drive, and collecting knives. HIs passion was video gaming. From Call of Duty to Assassin’s Creed to ARK: Survival Evolved, Ethan was a commander with the controller. The reason for such a tragedy is not known, but the reason for his life was simple, to teach us what true love looks like, and that Ethan did to perfection. Gone way too soon, he will be remembered forever for his gusto for life, his quirky ways, and his inescapable bear hugs. Thank you Ethan, for showing us how to truly love one another!

Surviving in addition to his parents are his sisters, Bella, at home and Caitlyn, Carbondale; Paternal grandmother, Corinne Hayes, and husband, Russell, paternal grandfather, David Loring, and wife Donna; Aunts and Uncles, Jon and Barb, Sarah and Kevin, Marvin and Rhonda and family, Josh and Elicia and family.

Maternal grandparents, Linda and Edward Lutkowski, and Paternal grandfather, Robert Joseph Singer preceded him in death.

A Celebration of Ethans’ Life will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 N. Main Street, Old Forge, with Rev. Jeremy Mullen, Pastor of Trinity Congregational Church, officiating.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday from 5 – 8 PM and Wednesday from 10-11 AM in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ethan Loring Memorial Fund, c/o NBT Bank, 5910PA-92, Kingsley, PA 18826.
