Obituaries

Carolyn D. Shaffer, 76, a resident of Guardian Health Care, Taylor, and formerly of Scranton and Moosic, died Tuesday afternoon.

Born May 9, 1946, daughter of the late William and Lucy Edwards, Carolyn was employed as a nurses aide with Green Ridge Nursing Home and also did private duty. Prior to her illness, she worked with Caregivers of America. She was of the protestant faith.

Carolyn had a strong work ethic, she enjoyed her job but loved coming home to be with her family. She kept a small circle of friends, and enjoyed time to herself. A wonderful cook, her weiner sauce was some of the best around. Singing was a favorite pastime of hers. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Surviving are her children, Mark Munson, Archbald, and Lisa Abdulalghafur, Wilkes-Barre; 8 grandchildren; brothers, Richard Edwards, Moosic, Dennis Edwards, Scranton, Gary and Bradley Edwards, Duryea; a sister, Bonnie Sellman; and several nieces and nephews

A son, John Leonard, brothers, Michael “Butch” and William Edwards, and sister, Nancy Evans, also preceded her in death.

A Celebration of Carolyn’s Life will be held on Wednesday at 6 PM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 N Main St., Old Forge with Rev. Dr. Michael Shambora officiating.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday from 4 to 6 PM in the funeral home.
