George B. Kovalik, 62, of Moosic passed away unexpectedly on May 24th.
George was born in Wilkes Barre on January 16, 1960, to the late George and Theresa (Borowski) Kovalik. He was a graduate of Coughlin High School and later went on to earn an associates degree form LCCC. Prior to his retirement, he worked in computer operations.
He and his loving wife, Lynda (Leopard) Kovalik, would have celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary on June 28th.
George was a happy go lucky guy who enjoyed life and would strike up a conversation with anyone he met. He was a funny person, especially around his granddaughters whom adored him because “Grandpa has no rules”. George loved amusement parks, especially Knoebels, and recently fulfilled his dream of going to Disney World with his children. He enjoyed driving Cadillacs and his ‘91 Corvette. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan in good times and bad. As a Parrot Head, it was always 5 o’clock somewhere. George never met a bargain he didn’t like, especially at auctions and reduced bakery racks at the grocery store. Christmas was his favorite holiday and there was no such thing as too many decorations.
George was happiest spending time with his family. He is also survived by his children, Ashley Gilio and husband Steve, Nick Kovalik and companion Sara Dukauskas of Clarks Green, granddaughters Lucy and Nora, mother-in-law Marlene Leopard and his loyal furry friends Marty and Bella.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday at 9:15 AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with a 10:00 AM Service at St. Nicholas Church, Old Forge, to be celebrated by Rev. Eduard Shestak, Pastor. Burial will follow at Dunmore Cemetery.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday between 4-6:00 PM at the funeral home.
