Richard Gary Herman, 69, a resident of Moosic, died Sunday morning at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit, Dunmore.
Born September 16, 1952 in Nanticoke, son of the late Albert and Eleanor Isdebski Herman, Richard was a graduate of Scranton Central High School. For over 30 years, he owned and operated the Embroidery Factory, starting in his house and then moving to Market Street in Pittston. Upon selling inJune of 2013, he found himself traveling with his beloved companion, Diane Gilchrist. Together, they left footprints all over the globe. Richard was of the catholic faith.
Family was his life, especially his grandchildren, Victoria and Olivia. An avid golfer, Richard was a member and league player of Glenmaura National Golf Club and Fox Hill Country Club. He also enjoyed boating, and had a deep love of music, all types. If there was a pool nearby, Richard could be found worshipping the sun by it. He loved traveling, especially his winters in Florida. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving is his loving family; children, Lindsey Spano, and husband, P.J., Roaring Brook Township and son, Ryan Herman, Pittston Twp.; his grandchildren, Victoria and Olivia; his companion of 22 years, Diane Gilchrist; several nieces and nephews.
His sister, Diane Chabal, preceded him in death.
The family would like to extend a heart felt thank you to the nurses and staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart. You are angels in human form, and your care and compassion will never be forgotten.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10:30 AM in Divine Mercy Parish, 312 Davis Street, Scranton, to be celebrated by Rev. Francis Pauselli, pastor. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects from 9:30 AM until the time of the mass at the church.
