John Sepkowski, age 82, of West Scranton, passed away Tuesday evening at Moses Taylor Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife, Roberta (Moser) Sepkowski. The couple were married May 12, 1979.
A lifelong resident of Scranton, John was the son of the late Bernard and Mary (Stankevich) Sepkowski. After West Scranton High School, John proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. prior to his honorable discharge in 1962.
He had worked for Rowe International Vending Company in Parsippany, N.J., before retiring from the former Scranton Haddon Craftsmen as a forklift operator.
John lived and passed on his own terms. Possessing a huge heart and certainly caring for others, he was always friendly and fun to be around. A sports fan, he loved his New York Yankees and Denver Broncos and he was always proud of his garden. A devoted daily lotto player, The Pennsylvania Lottery system is also in deep mourning having lost one of its most loyal customers.
Above all else came his family, especially his adoring grandchildren. John will never be forgotten.
He is also survived by his loving daughters, Lynn Sepkowski and longtime companion Michael Kelly of Duryea, Amy Marino and husband Nick of Scranton, Kim Hurst and husband Bill of Scranton and Dawn Sheridan of VA; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; Jack Reese of Scranton, whom John considered a brother; and many nieces and nephews.
The last of five siblings, he was also preceded in death by Bernard Sepkowski, Mary Ann Elko, Dolores Bixler and Helen Simon.
Blessing services are scheduled for Saturday at 10:00 AM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Burial with military rites by the AMVETS Honor Guard will follow at the Cathedral Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday between 4-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
