Carmen E. Vega, 71, a resident of the Geneva House, Scranton, died Sunday morning at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born Nov. 13, 1950, in Guanica, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Francisco and Carmen Olivera Vega, Carmen was employed as an office manager at Child Care Industries, New York City, prior to her retirement. She was of the Catholic faith.
Carmen was a good-hearted person whose family was her life. She enjoyed having a good time and making everyone smile. Her cooking was always something to look forward to. Carmen will be deeply missed by her loving family, but will always live on in their hearts.
Surviving are her children, Jose Lopez, Lake Mary, Fla.; Diana Vega, Scranton; Ricardo Vega, Bronx, N.Y.; Arturo Vega, Winter Haven, Fla.; Gregory Vega, Scranton; and Regina Vega, Brooklyn, N.Y.; her sisters, Sonia Vega, Puerto Rico; and Irma Vega, Brooklyn, N.Y.; her five grandchildren, Christopher Jimenez, Cyanela Lopez, Dynasty Vega, Adrian Vega and Gabriel Vega; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Carmen’s Life will be held Friday at 7 p.m. in the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 125 N. Main Ave., Scranton.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
Her children, Jose Lopez,Diana, Ricardo, Arturo, Gregory and Regina Vega; her sisters: Sonia Vega Soto and Irma Vega Ennes; her beloved Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members would like to inform you that her ashes will be featured at her 1 year anniversary of her death in Funeraria Pacheco in Guanica, PR on May 1, 2023 from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm. For family and friends who couldn’t attend her memorial service at the time of her death in Scranton PA. She will be laid to eternal rest on May 3rd at the Cemetery in Guanica P.R. She will resting in peace with her beloved parents, Francisco Vega, Carmen Olivera and her beloved niece Rosanna Hernandez.
