Aileen L. (Grace) Gleason, age 89, of Moosic, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Friday, April 15, 2022. She was the wife of the late Rev. Stanley Gleason, who preceded her in death on January 31, 2013 after 59 years of marriage.
Born in Clarks Green, she was the daughter of the late George E. Grace and Grace Louise (Hilwig) Grace. She was a graduate of Dalton High School, Class of 1951. Aileen was a member of Jackson Street Baptist Church, it’s Sunday School class and Choir. She a was beautiful Christian lady, inside and out. To know Aileen was to know Jesus.
Together with her husband, Aileen was the owner of Pop-Pop’s Workshoppe and she hand painted many pieces of furniture and décor items; her hand painted mailboxes can still be seen on many houses throughout the Lackawanna Valley. Aileen was a devoted wife to Stanley throughout his entire life and career as owner of Gleason Kitchens and was a faithful support to him during his years of ministry. Aileen’s life was centered around her family and friends and her home was always open. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and dear friend.
Aileen is survived by her son, John Gleason and wife Nancy of Moosic; her brother, Robert Grace of New Milford; former daughter-in-law, Leslie Gleason of Clarks Summit; her grandchildren, Laura Kurilla and husband Steve of Peckville, Derek Gleason and wife Sarah of Clarks Summit, Lacie Walker of Clarks Summit, Lisa Gleason of Moosic, Stephanie Gleason, with whom she resided and Matthew Gleason of Scranton; her three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son David Gleason, and granddaughter Jennifer Wallace.
Her family would like to thank the entire staff of Allied Hospice for the wonderful care Aileen received.
Private graveside services at Milwaukee Cemetery will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Elliott Cooke with a Celebration of Life Memorial Service scheduled at Jackson Street Baptist Church, 1206 Jackson St, West Scranton, on Saturday, April 30th, at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Aileen’s name to either Jackson Street Baptist Church or to Allied Hospice c/o 511 Morgan Hwy, Scranton, PA 18508.
