Christopher Gary Caravello, age 74, of Dunmore, a Brooklyn, N.Y. native and proud U.S. Army Veteran, passed away Saturday, March 26th, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, after an illness. He is survived by his beloved wife, Victoria (Gorski) Carvavello. Wed on July 15, 1978, the couple were married for 43 years.
Brooklyn, N.Y. born and raised, Christopher was born on February 1, 1948, and was the son of the late Placido “Pat” and Josephine (Cancilla) Caravello. He was drafted into the U.S. Army where he proudly served during the Vietnam War Period prior to his Honorable Discharge from service on October 16, 1973. He still remained active in volunteerism as he served as the chaplain of the Dunmore V.F.W. Post #3474.
He worked as a mail clerk for the New York State Insurance Fund prior to his retirement and settling in the Dunmore area.
He is survived by his loving children, Valerie and Christopher Caravello, Jr.; and two grandchildren Breanna and Joseph Ramos .
Military services by the members of the AMVETS Honor Guard are scheduled for Wednesday at 6:00 PM at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Private burial will be Thursday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
