Rosalie “Rosie” M. (Troy) Kane, age 79, of the Rocky Glen section of Moosic, passed away Tuesday at Allied Hospice in Scranton after an illness. She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Joseph Kane, Sr. The couple were married on August 22, 1959.
Born on December 22, 1942 and raised in West Wyoming, Rosie was the daughter of the late Walter and Louise (Yaletsko) Troy and attended West Wyoming Schools.
A lifelong seamstress, she worked in the local garment industry, including Brooks Manufacturing, prior to her retirement. Beyond sewing, she enjoyed crocheting, playing solitaire, solving word search books and “digging ditches.” Above all else came her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she both helped to raise and adored dearly. Now at peace, she will never be forgotten.
She was a longtime attendee of the Moosic Alliance Community Church.
She is also survived by loving family, including her children Joseph Kane, Jr. and wife Penny of Moosic, Brian Kane and wife Michele of Scranton, Rose Cianci of Moosic and Donna Abent and husband Mark of CA; 8 grandchildren, Brian, Krystal, Johanna,Joseph, Jessica, Philip, Mark and Kyle; 6 great grandchildren, Adrian, Norah, Tate, Piper, Michael and Mia; sisters, Maryann Verbetich of NC and Barbara Tupper and husband Jim of MI; and many nieces and nephews.
Siblings, Eleanor Popko, Thelma Hettes, Walter Troy and an infant brother, also preceded her in death.
Rosie’s family would like to thank Allied Services, both Skilled Nursing and Inpatient Hospice, as well as Rosie’s roommate, Katie Rode, for her selfless kindness and friendship throughout Rosie’s stay.
A celebration of Rosie’s life will be announced at a later date with arrangements under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge.
