Joseph “Joe” Antosh, Jr., age 71, a longtime Harding resident, passed away Wednesday morning at home.
Born in Wilkes Barre on March 3, 1951, Joe was the son of the late Joseph, Sr., and Ellen (Kulikauskas) Antosh. Immediately after Wyoming Area High School, Joe began working for BF Goodrich Tires in Exeter. After nearly 20 years, he then worked as a press assistant for Offset Paperback in Dallas for over 30 years prior to his “retirement.” Joe’s extraordinary work ethic was on daily display as he not only worked his shift but also ran the family farm with his brother, rarely catching more than four hours a sleep per day.
Joe’s humor was memorable. It was dry, witty and often came without a filter. “Joe the Greek” was a bit of a local gambling legend as he couldn’t lose a bet. From betting sports parlays to any card game in existence, he rarely lost. He often said he wouldn’t go to the casino because he “didn’t want to put the Mohegan Sun out of business.”
One of a kind, he’ll never be forgotten.
Joe’s survived by his children, J.P. Antosh and wife Courtney of Vero Beach, FL., Jamie Antosh of Groton, N.Y., Stacie Antosh and husband Samuel and Kelly Lough, both of Las Vegas, NV.; seven grandchildren, Elysabeth, Thomas Joseph, twins Alex and Lexi, twins Isabella and Isaiah, and Austin; siblings, James Antosh and wife Debbie, Patricia Searfoss and husband Chuck and Susan Antosh, all of Harding; and nieces and nephews.
A sister, Joyce Ann Hilstolsky, also preceded him in death.
Private arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge.
In lieu of flowers and in Joe’s memory, visit your nearby minimart and buy a few lottery scratch-offs. Good luck!
