William “Billy” Paul Breig, age 64, a lifelong Old Forge resident, passed away Friday afternoon at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton, after an illness. He is survived by his loving wife, Patti (DeMario) Breig. Wed on September 21, 1985, the couple celebrated 36 years of marriage.
Born in Old Forge on March 19, 1957, Billy was the son of the late William Breig and Frances (Altobelli) Sperlunto. A graduate of Old Forge High School’s Class of 1975, he first worked for Superior Door Co. as a metal fabricator before then being employed by the Tobyhanna Army Depot. He next worked at Schott Glass Co., prior to its closure, before retiring from Pride Mobility Products Corp.
From his days playing high school baseball to his decades of local softball league play, Billy was a lifelong sports fan. He was a loyal fan of both the Baltimore Orioles and the Philadelphia Eagles.
He loved his family and enjoyed all the good times spent with his friends. Taken from his loved ones too soon, Billy will long be missed.
He is also survived by his adoring children, Kaitlin Breig and companion Josh Johnson and Garret Breig, all of Old Forge; his granddaughter, Juliette; his sister, Betsy Pisa and husband James of Old Forge; a father-in-law, Ralph DeMario, Sr. of Moosic; nieces and nephews; and his best buddy, his pup “Cooper.”
A celebration of Billy’s Life is scheduled for Thursday between 4- 6:00 PM at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge.
