Ellen Alberta (Smith) Webb, age 92 and a longtime resident of Moosic, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday morning. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Oscar Webb, Jr., on May 29, 2012. The couple were married for 63 years.
Born in Yatesville on January 17, 1930, Ellen was the daughter of the late Milton and Anna (Schauffler) Smith. She was the proud valedictorian of her graduating class at the former Yatesville High School. Shortly after graduation, she married Oscar and had two children. She worked for many years for Parodi Cigar Co. and prior to her retirement she was employed by the Riverside School District.
Above all else, Ellen was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She was known for her energetic and fun personality and she will be truly missed by all who knew her.
She was a devoted member of the Moosic Alliance Community Church. She was faithful to both her church and its congregation who had certainly become extended family to her. Her church family and friends loved her dearly.
She is survived by her son and caregiver, Mark Webb and fiance Kathy Fedor of Scranton; two grandchildren, Stephanie Roundy and husband Ian and Rebekah Griffin-Gamble; two great grandchildren, Oscar and Sparrow Griffin-Gamble; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Wendy DePietro; her granddaughter, Jessica Rose Webb; and, the last of eleven siblings, by her brothers, Walter, Howard and infant twin Alan Smith, and her sisters, Joan Marsh, Mildred “Tootsie” Hinckley, Gladys Hamby, Margaret Belles, Evelyn Schauffler, Mabel and Susan Welter.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Monday at 10:00 AM at the Moosic Alliance Community Church to be conducted by Rev. Erik J. Ferguson, Pastor. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst Twp. Those attending the funeral are asked to meet directly at the church.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday between 2-5:00 PM at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge.
