Beloved husband, father and grandfather, James (Jim) Harold Brown, age 80, of Mountain Top, passed into eternal life quietly on Monday at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, where he was a patient for the past seven days. He is survived by his loving wife, Violet (Santioni) Brown. The couple were to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on June 16th.
Born in Moosic on April 27, 1941, and son of the late Harold J. and Ethel (Decker) Brown, Jim was a graduate of the former Moosic High School, Class of 1958. He then attended Wilkes College before Spring Garden in Philadelphia where he studied electrical engineering. He worked for several firms in the Philadelphia area before working for Litton Industries, based out of California, as a quality control engineer. At Litton, his clientele spanned from the Mississippi southeast to the Bahamas.
Upon retirement, Jim worked for nearly two decades at the Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs and the Hilton Garden Inn. Jim loved traveling with his family, visiting beaches all over the map. He will certainly be missed.
In addition to his wife, Violet, he is survived by his sons, Bryan Brown and wife Sharon of Mountain Top and David Brown and longtime partner Jocelyn Smegewicz of Nicholson; and three grandchildren, Alexis Viscomis and husband Tyler of Allentown, Breeanna Brown and companion Mike of Mountain Top and Ian Brown of Tunkhannock. A son, James Brown, Jr., also preceded in death.
A funeral service is scheduled for Monday at 11:30 AM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Burial will follow in the Marcy Cemetery, Duryea.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday between 2-5:00 PM at the funeral home.
