Donna (Smith) Borent, age 59 and a longtime Taylor resident, passed away Thursday at home. On August 6, 2020, she was preceded in death by her soulmate and beloved husband of 41 years, Bill Borent.
Born on August 28, 1962 and raised in Taylor, Donna was the daughter of the late Donald, Sr. and Charlene (Carra) Smith. She was a graduate of Riverside’s class of 1980. Donna continued on to raise her 2 adoring sons with Bill. For over ten years she served as office manager at Godfather’s Sportswear in Old Forge, and was currently employed at UPS in Dunmore.
The life of the party, it was easy to gravitate toward Donna. She was kind, sweet and always saw the good in others. She gave the best advice and as a Mom, she’s what every mother should strive to be.
She enjoyed both dancing – anywhere and everywhere – and cooking. Spending time with her tightly-knit Italian family meant everything to her. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister who will never be forgotten by all who knew her.
Of Roman Catholic faith, she had long been a member of Saint Ann’s Basilica Parish.
She is survived by her sons, Billy Borent and wife Annie of Avoca and Chris Borent and wife Jennifer of Taylor; her five grandchildren, Dylan, Logan, Gianna, Mason and Amelia; her siblings, Terry Marcheona of Scranton, Sheryl Webb of Old Forge, Donald Smith, Jr. and wife Carol of Scranton, Charles Smith and husband Ronn of Taylor, and many nieces and nephews.
A blessing service at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge, with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Old Forge will be private.
