Obituaries

Lonnie Lee Geffre, age 69, of Scott Twp., passed away Sunday evening at the VA Medical Center, after an illness. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathy Jo (Estus) Geffre, on October 2, 2017.
An Aberdeen, South Dakota native, Lonnie was born on April 26, 1952. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War prior to his honorable discharge on April 21, 1975. A lifelong truck driver, he lived in Texas, for many years prior to settling in Scott Twp. after his marriage to Kathy Jo.
A faithful man, he was both a devoted member of the Peckville Assembly of God Church and a devoted fan of Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Jr. and NASCAR Racing. He enjoyed the open road and traveling the country with Kathy Jo. He will certainly be missed.
He is survived by his family, including children, siblings, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A blessing service and military honors are scheduled for Tuesday, January 25th, at 6:00 PM in the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton. Family and friends may pay their respects from 4:00 PM until services. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
