Gary Frey, age 73, of Rocky Glen section of Moosic, passed away Saturday morning at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes Barre, after an illness. He is survived by his best friend and beloved wife of 52 years Rose Marie (Sterling) Frey.
Born on April 10, 1948, and son of the late Alfred and Myrtle( Dawes) Frey, Gary was educated at Moosic High School before proudly serving in the US National Guard. He was an active member of the American Legion Post #604 of Moosic. He was employed at Scranton Talk before working for Sterling Service as a repair technician. Upon its closure, he worked at American Home Health Care, prior to his retirement.
An outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, Gary loved nothing more than spending time with his dogs. Taken from his loved ones too soon there is some peace in knowing he’s now reunited with his son Gary, up above.
He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, James Thomas; Martin McGlynn and wife, Cynthia McGlynn; and many nieces and nephews.
Also preceding him in death was his adored son and namesake, Gary Frey; siblings, Aleene Thomas and Robert Frey; and brothers-in-law, Joseph and Melvin “Gibby” Sterling.
Blessing services from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge, followed by burial with military honors by AMVETS Honor Guard at Dunmore Cemetery, will be private.
