Dixie Lee Scheitlin, 75, of Madison Township, and formerly of Baltimore, MD, died Sunday, January 2, 2022, at Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit, Dunmore. Her husband of 56 years was Willard Scheitlin.
Born August 25, 1946, in Wichita, KS, to the late Calvin and Mildred Carper Oakes, Dixie was employed as the kitchen supervisor by Gertrude Hawks until her retirement in 2011. She was of the catholic faith.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Dixie was the piece that completed the puzzle. Her family, especially her grandchidlren and great grandchildren were her life. Dixie was the glue that held everything together. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving are:Two Daughters, Ginger Smith, and husband, Jeff, Madison Township, and Sheri Enslin, Olyphant; a Son, Tim Scheitlin, Olyphant; Two Sisters, Catherine Franco, and Jacqueline Heck, Maryland; Seven Grand Children, CJ, Brittany, Trisha, Joey, Jordan, Macee, and Lexah; Six Great-Grand Children, Alaya, Jayden, Joel, Hailey, Davion, and Lukas; Several nieces and nephews. Also preceding in death was an infant son, Christopher Scheitlin, and a brother, Leo Oakes.
Dixie was looking forward to the arrival of her great grandson, Tanner any day now. But I thnk she has already met him and filled him in on the wonderful family he is about to meet.
As per her wishes, services will be private at the convenience of the family with interment in Fairview Memorial Park at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted and under the care of Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton.
